Only 14% of college educated African Americans get $10,000 to the next generation. The absence of financial literacy and estate planning further widens the wealth gap.
At BTFK, we are driven to change this reality. We want to build a world where everyone, regardless of race, has equal financial power. Achieving this goal is why we do everything we do.
Our Founder
BTFK was founded by Portia M. Wood, an estate planning attorney and passionate advocate for intergenerational wealth and financial literacy in the Black community.
Portia started her estate planning law firm and was appalled by the dismal stats she saw for Black wealth transfer, across all income and education brackets. She quickly recognized the need for focused financial, estate, and wealth planning education in the Black community and set out to be that resource.
Today, she leads a dedicated team of financial experts, estate planning professionals, and master coaches who are committed to the financial success of families of all kinds, with a special focus on Black families.
Her team understands that financial education is not one-size-fits-all and strives to meet you where you are on your journey to provide the tools you need to move towards financial freedom.
